A crystallographic study using a four-circle diffractometer was carried out on a twin system observed in chalcopyrite-type AgGaS2 crystals grown by the Bridgman technique. The twin components have (112) planes in common, and coincide with each other in the direction of the atomic arrangement. The twin system is essentially a glide-twin characterized by successive glides of atomic layers parallel to (112) along the [ 1 11 ]. This glide-twin can be described as a reflection twin with ( 1 11 )* twin plane. The same sort of the twin system was also observed in AgGaS2 crystals when they were treated under hydrostatic pressures above 5 GPa.
